Thin hex nuts GN 7430 are used for mounting breather elements, fluid sight glasses, or threaded plugs if the wall thickness is insufficient for fitting a thread or this should be avoided for manufacturing simplification.
The sufficiently large hexagonal profile is chamfered on one side only, which increases the bearing surface and the thread length.
The stainless steel versions can be secured inside the housing with weld points to simplify assembly. They are generally suitable for applications in aggressive conditions.
